Urban Comforts, Single-Story Style: Apartment-inspired Bungalow in Sg. Long, Kajang
Project Palette
In the picturesque landscapes of Sungai Long, Kajang, WDB's dynamic design duo, Zameil and Mazwin, undertook the challenge of creating a single-story, low-budget bungalow that harmoniously blends affordability with elegance. Situated in proximity to the serene waterfall area, this residence reflects a client's desire for a landed haven with the layout convenience of an apartment. As the client also runs a catering business, the strategic placement of the kitchen near the main entrance became a focal point of the design. This single-story bungalow, carefully curated by WDB, comprises four bedrooms and three bathrooms, a functional layout catering to the client's family needs. Three bedrooms were dedicated to the client's sons, while a master bedroom, complete with an attached bath, offers a private retreat for the homeowner. The designers envisioned the bungalow as a welcoming hotel, using a simple yet refined white color palette throughout.
Living Room Harmony
The living room serves as a central gathering space, adorned with a comfortable three-seat grey sofa complemented by a bespoke wood TV cabinet. An L-shaped table was meticulously incorporated to fulfill the client's request for a monitoring area, fostering an environment where family activities, studying, and computer games seamlessly coexist. The house's flooring, adorned with Porcelain Wood Tiles, effortlessly complements the white-painted walls, establishing a cohesive aesthetic that resonates throughout the bungalow.
Kitchen and Dining Integration
In alignment with the client's preference, the kitchen and dining area took center stage near the main entrance. WDB designers crafted an L-shaped base kitchen cabinet with the textural allure of a white marble laminate worktop and a single melamine wall cabinet. The proximity to the nearby waterfall inspired the incorporation of three-panel windows, offering breathtaking views during meal preparation and dining. Adjacent to the kitchen, the laundry room seamlessly integrates practicality and aesthetics. WDB designers installed a single-wall base cabinet for clothes folding and detergent storage, with provisions for a washing machine and dryer, ensuring a space that caters to the family's laundry needs.
Tailored Bedrooms for Sons
Each son's bedroom was tailored to their individual tastes, featuring wood melamine laminate wardrobes, study tables, and single beds. The designers infused a youthful vibrancy by using wall stickers in grey-orange-creamy tones, creating a personalized and welcoming space for the teenagers.
Master Bedroom Serenity
The master bedroom serves as a serene retreat, boasting a queen-size bed flanked by white-golden side tables. A wood melamine laminate wardrobe provides ample storage, while a greyish color wall sticker on one side enhances the room's aesthetics, aligning with the overall design theme.
Bathroom Sophistication
In the bathrooms, WDB designers opted for dark grey 3'x3' tiles for flooring to minimize the appearance of dirt, while white porcelain tiles extend to the ceiling, creating a bright and refreshing atmosphere. These bathrooms exemplify simplicity without compromising on aesthetics, elevating the design standard for low-cost residences.
WDB's meticulous design approach for this Sungai Long bungalow epitomizes elegance in simplicity. By integrating functional spaces, personalized touches, and a thoughtful color palette, the residence not only meets the client's requirements but exceeds expectations, setting a new standard for low-cost housing aesthetics. This bungalow stands as a testament to WDB's commitment to creating homes that seamlessly balance affordability with timeless sophistication.
